Shower Drain Installation
The bathroom is one of the most popular spots in the house to be improved
because it might attract many buyers if in the future you ever have a plan to
sell the house. Or sometimes people also build extra bathrooms in the house
because there are too many people living there, or just to add the property
value. Whatever the reason is, every time you build a bathroom, you need to go
through several processes, which one of them is the shower drain installation.
Even though bath tubs are a popular choice, shower is in fact far more
popular and when someone is looking for a new residence, one thing that would be
considered a requirement in the bathroom would the shower. Besides, installing a
shower is not so difficult so it will not take you a long time to do it.
If you use a collector for your bathroom, you would have a choice whether you
want to build it yourself or buy the pre-cast collector? You can certainly build
it yourself even though it would take more time and there would be no guarantee
of what you have done. If you buy it, you would only spend a little bit extra
but you can certainly continue the bathroom work right away. So before starting
it, you need consider deeply about the positive and negative aspects of both
alternatives.
For setting your bathroom with a pan, you do not have to think much about how
and where you get the pan from because the main issue is that you need to use
one that has the same location of the drain as the original pan in order to make
the work easier. Otherwise you might need to move the drain pipes, which is
something to avoid if all possible. Because moving drain pipes is such a
complicated work, doing it might take you another couple of days more of hard
work.
When you ready with the pipe, everything will go without a problem. You need
to remember that the drainage pipe should be vertically in front of the
collector. Next you need to connect the water tight with the drain cap located
on top of the pan, and also the drainage pipe. Afterwards you need to put a
coupling piece on top of the drainage pipe, which is then covered with gaskets.
The next move is to screw it to the drain cap.
The drain cap needs to be fitted into the watertight position in the pan.
Make sure it fits perfectly by backing off the drain then screw the plumbers
putty under the cap. Although it may sounds a little bit complicated at first,
once you get start doing it you will not realize how fast the process will go.
Furthermore, don’t forget to run some tests before putting the bathroom for
use. In order to get more information, you can ask some suggestions from people
working for the stores where you buy the materials from. Usually they are
trained people who would help you with your installation problems, or direct you
to the people who know how to do it.
